Dhillan re-entered his lab and felt his hand clench around the note in his pocket. The Feds were everywhere. Sweeping through like a plague, logging in to the computer systems and whispering, creating a muted hum that made him want to run.

“They had this.”

He turned his eyes to Lucy and glanced down at the warrant that allowed them access to any internet-capable devices in his sphere, including all of these.

He felt his heart rate spike. He hadn't yet had time to clear Luca's ghost, or try and figure out a way to cover his tracks well enough that the Feds wouldn't notice.

“Is everything alright, boss?”

Dhillan fought to keep his face in a long-suffering pose. “Yeah. Oh, here,” he said as one of the suits spotted him. “You must have dropped it.”

“Thanks,” Lucy said, pocketing her card quickly.

“Dr Chais.”

Dhillan gave the man a small nod and held out his mobile, knowing what was coming.

“Anything else?”

The suit eyed him for a moment then shook his head. “Not right now.”

Dhillan sighed and went to take a seat a little away from the bustle. They were smart, he'd give them that much. They had shown up to investigate when Hopkins was holding interviews and couldn't interfere.

Not that she could have much, anyway.

He turned to the panic growing in his mind. If they found Luca's ghost, or any trace of their messages, he was done for. And not just him. Violet would go down too.

He let his fingers curl around the small slip of paper Ruben had given him. Taking a few deep breaths, he shut his eyes, forcing his mind to try and determine a course of action that would get him answers based only on someone's name. If they were going to find something that would lead to his arrest, worrying wouldn't help, and if, by some miracle, they weren't, then this was his next step.
